Like a seed protected within a pod you can remain dormant. Or you can choose personal growth and reach toward the sky. To help you sprout, we’ve put together a list of resources regarding available weight loss treatments. Unfortunately most don’t work long-term, they’re unsafe or not recommended for the majority of people. But there’s hope. With Renovo Clinic’s help you can lose weight safely, confidently and permanently.
Diets Don’t Work and What Does
We really don’t need to tell you this – you already know it. Everyone does. Diets don’t work. The notion that it’s possible to temporarily change how you eat to lose weight fast, and then go back to your old way of eating without gaining the weight back just doesn’t make sense. The only way to lose weight effectively and healthfully for the long term is to make changes that become part of a new way of life, one that is enjoyed as much or more than your former way.

Diet Pills Don’t Work
OK, this is an easy one. The only thing diet pills will help you to lose is your money. If there were a safe, effective, and relatively side-effect free medication for weight loss, would anyone be overweight? No. A pill like this doesn’t exist. All diet pills except one have been taken off the U.S. market because of side effects such as heart valve problems, increased heart attack and stroke risk, and high blood pressure. The one pill left on the market is Xenical (or Alli over-the-counter). It interferes with fat absorption in the intestine, so it can leave you with oily-stained underwear, diarrhea, loss of bowel control, and foul-smelling gas. The amount of weight you can lose with this drug is not impressive.
Full Plate Diet
Everyone knows that diets don’t work. That’s true when a diet is just a short-term fix to what is really a life-long problem. But when the word diet is used to describe how you eat for the rest of your life, that’s different. Dr. Seale, the medical director for Renovo Clinic in Gilbert, Arizona, has co-authored The Full Plate Diet, a simple and healthy way to not only lose weight but to also keep the weight off once it’s lost. The Full Plate Diet is, quite simply, the ideal way for people to eat whether they need to lose weight or not. For those who come to Renovo Clinic and want nutritional guidance, The Full Plate Diet is recommended but not required. We’ll support whatever healthy eating plan our patients choose.
HCG Weight Loss Diets Don’t Work
HCG, or human chorionic gonadotropin, is a hormone produced during pregnancy. It has gained popularity over the last few years, likely because it’s viewed as a quick-fix. Usually given as shots along with very low calorie diets that can’t be sustained over the long haul. HCG isn’t approved for weight loss, and there’s no evidence to support it being effective. Simple logic doesn’t support that being overweight is due to a lack of pregnancy hormone!

Mindfulness
Being intentionally aware of all of your senses all of the time is a great way to not only start losing weight, but also to enrich your overall life experience. Not being mindful causes us to overeat as well as not notice, let alone enjoy, our food. Mindfulness takes practice, but it’s something you’re sure to enjoy.

Weight Loss Surgery
There is a small minority who may actually need surgical intervention for weight loss, primarily because their weight is so extreme and life-threatening that there is no time to allow for weight loss through lifestyle change alone. However, there are complications associated with this approach that need to be balanced against the potential benefit. Post-operative infections, blood clots, and death can occur. Long term difficulties in absorbing nutrients essential for health is also a side-effect, as well as an increased risk of bone fractures. Some forms of surgery restrict food intake to only a few ounces at a time in order to avoid abdominal pain or vomiting. Surgery doesn’t do away with the need to change behavior. It only makes radical changes even more necessary.
